1. Further exploration - As a graduate of, and an educator in, an international school, I found Kim Cofino's discussion about third culture kids fascinating. I would like to get a copy of the book she mentioned, Third Culture Kids: The Experience of Growing up Among Worlds.
2. Personal professional development - Listening to these presenters at the K12 Online Conference has made me cognizant of what a great tool this is for professional development. Because of this, when I read of another online conference coming up (Handheld Librarian Online Conference, being held Feb. 17-18, 2010), I realized what an opportunity this will be. Our school is beginning the process of looking at our hardware needs for next year, and I hope this online conference will help me to be better informed for giving input to those decisions affecting the library.
3. Applications - o Develop my own Personal Learning Network - brainstorm with my fellow librarians at my school, reach out to middle school librarians at other international schools, and continue monitoring the RSS feed I recently created. o Work on increasing the tools in my "technology toolbox" - I'm interested in trying out Twitter, for example. I've read some librarians call it the best professional development tool they've ever had. o Collaborate more with teachers - Collaboration was one of the aspects of culture shock that Cofino mentioned. Learning is too complex nowadays for students to only have one teacher!
